Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy ruled out of Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations opener against Zimbabwe after testing positive for Covid-19

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss Senegal's opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations against Zimbabwe on Monday.

As reported by Sky Sports, Senegal are already without Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Alanyaspor striker Famara Diedhiou because of Covid-19.

In addition, Saliou Ciss, Bamba Dieng, Mame Baba Thiam, Pape Matar Sarr, Alfred Gomis and Leicester's Nampalys Mendy had to remain in Senegal ahead of this game after testing positive.

Gomis is Senegal's second-choice goalkeeper, so it seems likely that they will have to call upon third-choice shot-stopper Seny Dieng of QPR.
